Professional Summary

I'm a PhD-trained writer and educator with significant community engagement and administrative experience, seeking opportunities to leverage the skills I developed over the last fifteen years in academia and arts administration to serve cultural organizations that support lifelong learning and creative expression as tools for building stronger communities. I turn visionary thinking into actionable steps for implementation, while refining communication and program execution processes to better serve an organization’s strategic priorities. An expert writer and presenter across public-facing genres, I excel at translating complex information into digestible forms for a broad range of audiences.

Postdoctoral Researcher / University of Delaware

I teach undergraduate classes in writing and theater for social change, facilitate experiential learning opportunities, and create data and reports to manage alumni relationships and support department recruitment. Active research projects in environmental humanities and public history.

Consultant / Freelance

I raise money for arts and culture nonprofits and help them launch new educational  programs and creative initiatives. I have raised over $1.1 million for cultural organizations over the last two years.

2021-2022

Institutional Giving Manager / Wilma Theater 

 I managed a full grants calendar, which included drafting proposals, budgets, and reports; establishing a workflow for the grant process that involved multiple employees and ensured on-time delivery of all grant materials; contributing to budget reconciliation and reporting; and revamping institutional procedures for prospecting and relationship management. Supported leadership in planning for future educational and artistic initiatives.

2020-2021

Visiting Assistant Professor / University of Oklahoma

I taught classes in dramatic literature, playwriting, dramaturgy, and theater for social change, created a collaborative playwriting initiative with the Fred Jones, Jr. Museum of Art, and curated a series of workshops and lectures featuring eight nationally recognized theater artists from diverse backgrounds and areas of practice. 

2019-2020

Edgar F. Shannon Postdoctoral Fellow / University of Virginia

I taught classes in writing, global drama, and theater and technology and pursued an active research agenda, placing publications in peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Contemporary Drama in English and The Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts

2018-2019

Director / UVA Public Humanities Lab / University of Virginia

I managed week-to-week operations and budget for the lab, supported four PIs in community-engaged research and advocacy, led our first strategic planning process, secured renewal funding, and conducted my own fieldwork on historical interpretation at the Frontier Culture Museum.

Interests

I've been directing and producing theater for fifteen years. (Contact me for my artistic resume!) A lot of this work has been at Live Arts in Charlottesville, VA, where I have also worked closely with multiple artistic directors on season programming. I am also proud to serve on the board of New Light Theatre, a Delaware-based theater company committed to elevating the work of other charitable organizations in conjunction with each production.

I'm an avid museum-goer, voracious reader, amateur painter, and wannabe guitarist.
