AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 PLAYS

Live Arts Gala | Fall 2017
4 hours of site-specific performances in 11 distinct spaces spread around our four-story building.
"Around the World in 80 Plays" was part party, part fundraiser, part international extravaganza and featured a range of performance traditions from around the world. Throughout the evening attendees could travel to eleven sites representing countries and cities from around the world to drink, dine, and enjoy a performance experience ranging from traditional (a scene from A Delicate Balance) to immersive (visits from Lady Nijo in Tokyo).
As co-directors, we supplied a larger artistic vision for the event, worked closely with a team of over 20 designers, selected and devised scenes and songs, cast over 70 roles, and oversaw direction for all of the performances. My scene directing on this product included micro-performances taken from Peter Shaffer's The Royal Hunt of the Sun, Griselda Gambaro's Antigona Furiosa, and based on Lady Nijo from Caryl Churchill's Top Girls. Furthermore, I was the scenic designer for the Tokyo space (with Kurt Meusel).
From co-director Bree Luck:
"This fall, I had the great fortune of working with Kelli to co-direct a massive theatrical gala, spanning four stories, 22,000 feet, and bursting at the seams with more than 40 performance pieces for nearly 400 attendees. We were deep in the trenches together for a month as we worked with a team of 269 people to craft the event. Kelli was both a mastermind and a grounding force throughout the process. It was an honor to work with her."
